Wraxall Church of England V.A. Primary SchoolWraxall School nestles below the Church that has provided education in the local area for 200 years. During the last twenty years, the school has been considerably modernised and much money has been spent on improving facilities. In January 2002 a major building project was completed. This provided two new classrooms, additional playground, a library/computer suite, a secure outdoor curriculum area for under 5's and a new administration and entrance area. Following the generosity of local landowner John Winter, a 2500 square metre sports field was leased adjoining the school. The site is surrounded by open farmland and there are pleasant views towards Nailsea and Backwell Hill. The school maintains strong links with the parish churches and the local community and aims to provide a caring family atmosphere where children are valued as individuals and encouraged to fulfil their potential academically, socially, physically and spiritually. Considerable value is placed on educating the 'whole child' and maintaining quality of life and quality of learning throughout the school. Children are offered a high quality education that is challenging and fun. The school has recently been awarded Investors in People and is committed to lifelong learning for all staff and pupils. "This is a good school. It benefits from the very good leadership of the head teacher and an able and committed staff and governing body. The quality of teaching is good and pupils achieve well as a result. All members of the school community work as a collaborative team within the atmosphere of mutual care and respect, which pervades every aspect of school life. This contributes to the above average standards that pupils attain." Ofsted 2002 Wraxall Church of England Primary School is a very good Church of England School, which values its Christian foundation and is alert to maintaining and developing the quality of its educational provision.
